Michel Saulnier



Double-bassist. Born, Paris, 1953, son of Maurice SAULNIER, viola player with the French National Orchestra and Pierette SAULNIER, chorist with the Monte-Carlo Opera. He learnt cello in Boulogne between the ages of 8 and 15
then, in, 1968, discovered jazz and improvisation. He took up the double-bass and won a prize at the Versailles CNR with Jacques CAZAURAN.
From 1975 to 1979 he worked with Louis SCLAVIS and then came into contact with ARFI at the Avignon Festival where he guested with WORKSHOP DE LYON, MARVELOUS BAND and MARMITE INFERNALE. 
Since 1991 he has played in the Steve Waring quartet alongside Alain GIBERT and Christian VILLE.
